What is parenting style? Parenting style refers to the manner in which parents raise their children. This can refer to the parents’ levels of expectations, performance demands, attentiveness to rules and performance demands, as well as their type of discipline techniques to enforce expectations. There are 3 main styles of parenting: Authoritarian, Permissive and Authoritative.
My parents’ parenting style is authoritative. I believe my parents are authoritative because they are really communicative and do not discipline me as hard as authoritarian parents. They have rules but also they give some freedom to do particular things as long as it does not go beyond specific boundaries. My parents are not neglectful and create reasonable expectations for me that they know that I can achieve. They respect my choices and goals for the future and support me in whatever I do. They allow us to make some decisions on our home which makes us feel more independent. My Parents’ parenting style makes me more cooperative with people and self-controlled so I don’t fall into any negative temptation. I also see myself as a high achiever as I am doing considerably well in my academics and I have become more independent. In conclusion, I am very happy with the my family’s parenting style and I believe it benefits everyone in the family.
